It has been our finding that many errors occur because of misconfiguration at the beginning.
Follow these simple instructions to get your WAP54G up and running ready to configure and use.
Firstly we should reset the WAP54G so that we know what state the WAP54G is in before we start.
There have been many reports on how to reset the WAP54G, this is the one we use and it seems to work all the time.
Connect the power to the WAP54G.

You do not need to connect anything to the LAN port at this time.
Now look at the front panel.

Observer the lights, in particular the Act light.
Locate the Rest button on the rear of the WAP54G.

Press and hold down the reset button all the while looking at the Act light.
The Act light will flicker and then extinguish. Once the light has gone out, release the reset button and wait for the Act light to turn back on.
Your WAP54G is now reset to factory defaults.
Connect an Ethernet cable directly from your PC/Laptop to the LAN port of the WAP54G.

Do NOT connect the WAP54G to your network.
Connect the power to the WAP54G

On the front of the WAP54G there should be 3 lights, the power light should be on, just wait for the Act light to turn on and the WAP54G is ready.

Set the IP of your PC/Laptop to 192.168.1.240/255.255.255.0
No DNS or gateway settings need to be set at this time.
Now from your favorite web browser on your PC/Laptop type in 192.168.1.245 in the address bar and press enter.
You should be presented with a login screen like this

If you didn't get a login screen go back and check your work and try again.
Don't put anything at all in for the User Name:
Enter admin for the Password:
You should now be presented with a screen like this.

You can now change the IP and Gateway settings to suit your network.
Note: If you change the IP you will have to change the IP of your PC/Laptop to suit the new subnet or you will no longer be able to talk to the WAP54G.
Do NOT use DHCP to configure your WAP54G as this is just plain stupid from the point of view that you will never be able to find your WAP54G again should you need to manage it if you don't know its IP.
