Description of Modes

AP Mode:

This mode allows clients to connect to the WAP54G.

The WAP54G expects to see a connection to the LAN port.

The LAN port can be connected to an Ethernet hub/switch.

AP Client Mode:

This mode places the WAP54G in ad-hoc mode and the WAP54G acts just like a wireless network card attached to your client.

In client mode the WAP54G can connect to another access point or connect directly to other clients.

The WAP54G expects to see a connection to the LAN port.

Only 1 client can connect to the LAN port at a time.

Repeater mode:

In this mode the WAP54G repeats any signal it is configured to.

The WAP54G does NOT expect to see a connection to the LAN port.

Any client can connect to any repeater node.

Repeater nodes should be kept to 4 or less when using the WAP54G due to performance issues.

Bridge Mode:

In this mode the WAP54G acts like a dedicated wireless link between itself and another WAP54G or WRT54G.

The WAP54G expects to see a connection to the LAN port.

The LAN port can connect to a hub/switch

Clients cannot connect to any end of a bridge.
